• BBC Sound of 2015 Longlist Announced

    To be named on the BBC Sound of lists is a pretty big deal. Last year's winner was Sam Smith and past winners have included HAIM in 2013, Jessie J in 2011, Ellie Goulding in 2010, Adele in 2008, Keane in 2004 and 50 Cent in 2003. If you land on this list, your future is probably headed in the right direction, and if you win, your career is most likely going to take off quickly. BBC has now announced the longlist for those artists who are set to make waves in 2015, via MTV.The artists on the BBC Sound of 2015 are James Bay, George the Poet, Kwabs, Lapsley, Rae Morris, Novelist, Raury, Shamir, Shura, Slaves, Soak, Stormzy, Sunset Sons, Wolf Alice and Years & Years. The list spans a whole host of different sounds and styles from pop to grunge to grime.There is talent across the board, but several bands and groups on this list stand out.

    Following Bono's Nov. 16 bike accident in Central Park, adjustments have been made to the lineup for the World AIDS Day (RED) concert in Times Square tonight. Kanye West and Carrie Underwood will perform at the event while Chris Martin (Coldplay) and Bruce Springsteen will stand in for Bono with U2 members Adam Clayton, The Edge and Larry Mullen Jr., according to U2's website.
  • Garth Brooks Buffalo Shows: Country Icon Adds New York to Tour Schedule

    Garth Brooks's never-ending comeback tour will be heading north after four January nights in Boston. The legendary country artist recently announced two Buffalo dates — four total shows — March 6 and 7, which should provide plenty of time for all that damn snow to melt.According to WIVB, the shows will be Brooks's first Buffalo appearances in 17 years.From The Boot: "Tickets will cost $56.97, plus $1.28 in tax, a $2.50 facility fee and a $5.50 service charge, for a total of $66.25. Tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 5 at 10 AM, and there will be an eight-ticket limit per purchase. Tickets will be available through Tickets.com or 1-800-228-6622."

Over the weekend, dance music fans gave thanks to the techno gods for bringing German indoor dance music festival Time Warp stateside to the 39th Street Pier in Brooklyn for its 20th anniversary.Taking place on Friday, Nov. 28, and Saturday, Nov. 29, the two-day festival featured a lineup that included house and techno heavyweights like Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Dixon, Sven Väth, Joseph Capriati, Dubfire:liveHYBRID, The Martinez Brothers and others. The festival was seemingly successful, but one incident has caught headlines after the festival.One of the premiere DJs on the lineup, Richie Hawtin, was showing off his moves in the booth, and upon seeing a young woman standing there filming the whole thing on her iPhone, he vented his frustration by pushing a monitor onto the fan.After the dust settled and fans had seen the video of him pushing the speaker into the iPhone-wielding fan, Richie Hawtin took to his Facebook page to pen a public apology for the incident.
