Electric Love Festival Announces 2015 Lineup Phase 1: Tiësto, Alesso, Oliver Heldens Headlining
One of Austria's largest music festivals, Electric Love, has announced the first wave of artists who will be headed to Salzburg in July. Tiësto, Alesso and Oliver Heldens will lead the first batch of DJs with many more also performing. In its third edition, the festival has managed to assert itself in the crowded European festival market with a variety of different styles and genres including drum n' bass, electro, hardstyle and progressive house. -
Zedd & Calvin Harris in Studio Together - Is a Collaboration in the Works?
Two of the biggest producers in the dance space are apparently working together. Zedd posted a picture on Twitter yesterday of him and Calvin Harris in the studio with the caption "Studio with this dawg called Calvin Harris." At the same time Calvin Harris posted the same picture, saying, "Listening to new zedd w/tropical fruits." -
Clean Bandit Announces North American Tour, 'Real Love' Remix EP Featuring The Chainsmokers
Grammy-award nominees, Clean Bandit, have announced potentially their most ambitious tour yet. They will be heading out on a massive 30+ date tour across North America that covers festival dates at SXSW, Ultra Music Festival, Coachella and Governor's Ball (see the exact of when they will be playing hint, hint), while also playing theaters in Arizona, Texas, Colorado and Quebec according to a press release. -
Ellie Goulding Shares 'Love Me Like You Do' Music Video from 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Soundtrack [WATCH]
Hot on the heels of yesterday, Jan. 21's video release for The Weeknd's "Earned It," Ellie Goulding has unveiled the visuals to her song for the "Fifty Shades of Grey" soundtrack "Love Me Like You Do." The Max Martin-produced single is another strong effort from the "Outside" singer, as Goulding channels the themes of sex and lust within the film to create an upbeat, sensual pop tune with a bombastic chorus as Ellie Goulding croons, "Love me like you do / Touch me like you do / What are you waiting for." -
Rdio Expands Into 24 New Markets in Caribbean, Central America and Asia-Pacific with Digicel Partnership
Music streaming service Rdio continues its big start to 2015 with another announcement about expanding its service into a bevy of new markets. Rdio has announced that it is expanding into 24 new markets across the Asia-Pacific, Central America and Caribbean regions. This is being done closely in liaison with mobile network Digicel. -
Shaun White Announces Air + Style 2015 Lineup: Kendrick Lamar, Diplo, The Flaming Lips, Steve Aoki Headlining
Shaun White is bringing the winter sport showcase Air + Style to Los Angeles, California, in a month's time Feb. 21 and 22. To go along with the surreal scene of snow — fake or not — in Los Angeles that is not on a movie set, he has curated an all-star musical lineup of acts that will perform over the two-day event. Some of the headliners include Los Angeles native Kendrick Lamar, L.A. resident Diplo, Steve Aoki, The Flaming Lips, Edward Shape and The Magnetic Zeros and others. -
Chief Keef Drops 'Ain't Nothing' After Potential Collab With Drake Revealed
Chief Keef without warning decided to drop a new track last night (Jan. 21) titled "Ain't Nothing" via his YouTube channel. The new song, produced by Ace Bankz, sees Sosa deliver another street ready tune with his casual delivery about fat stacks of cash and loose women. The preview has no additional information attached to it, as one might expect from Keef, but could be there to hold us over until to his upcoming album Bang 3 that fans have been waiting for a long time and it seems like may never arrive. -
Wale Asked Kanye West to Help Redesign Washington Wizards Uniforms
DMV rapper and proud Washington, D.C., representative Wale is looking to spice things up with his hometown basketball team the Washington Wizards. In a recent piece set to be published in "ESPN Magazine's" upcoming music issue Feb. 2, Olubowale Victor Akintimehin — known professionally as Wale — spoke on what he thinks the issue is with the Wizards right now and what he plans on doing to fix the problems of attendance and a general stale atmosphere surrounding the team. Recognizing this, the Wizards have brought on Wale to be a "creative consultant" to bring back fun to the Verizon Center. One of his first moves has been to call up fashion guru Kanye West to try and redesign the current team uniforms. -
Armin van Buuren Releases Two-Disc 'Armin Only: Intense' ‘The Music’ Album
Armin van Buuren underwent his most ambitious live shows ever in 2014 in support of his fifth artist album Intense. He created an arena-sized live show, titled Armin Only: Intense that featured dancers, all of the singers from the album, which were a lot, a band, trampolinists and breath taking production combining lights and visual effects cued up for each individual song as van Buuren worked them into the 6-hour set. -

A$AP Rocky, Tyga, Vince Stapes, Forest Whitaker and others are featured in a new film "Dope" about the 1990s Los Angeles black community. Written and directed by Rick Famuyiwa the film follows a young high school student, Malcolm and his glorious high-top fade as he tries to navigate being good at school and live in The Bottoms, one of the toughest neighborhoods in Inglewood, California. Malcolm dreams of attending Harvard, but the story starts with his life at home as he tries to survive every day. He and his group of friends are deeply into the hip-hop, tying in the many guest appearances from rappers that include the aforementioned artists above and also Casey Veggies. -
Pharrell, Sam Smith, John Legend & Common To Perform at Grammys
The Grammys is the biggest night in music as all of the biggest names around join together to celebrate what happened in the past year and give out awards, deservingly or not, to each other. As part of the celebrations, many of those artists perform live, at times together, creating some of the most unlikely of pairings. The Grammys already announced several of the performers that include established legends Madonna and AC/DC with new pop acts Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande. The academy has added to the performers list, giving the night a needed hip-hop and R&B flavor. Usher, Sam Smith, John Legend, Pharrell and Common are the new additions. -

The wait is at last over for Joey Bada$$ fans. They can finally go out and get the debut album, B4.DA.$$, from the talented young gun from Brooklyn via Cinematic Music Group / Pro Era. The album can be streamed in full for Spotify users. The album is largely just Joey Bada$$ solo songs, but he does call upon other artists like Action Bronson, Kiesza, Raury and BJ the Chicago Kid for features. Bada$$ showed his maturity at 20-years-old holding down the role of executive producer for the whole record, but called upon some big names for production work like Statik Selektah, DJ Premier, Pro Era producer, Chuck Strangers, The Roots and even samples from the creative genius that was J Dilla. -

Galantis Unveil 'Runaway (U & I)' Music Video, Continuing Seafox Saga from 'You' [WATCH]
Swedish electronic music duo Galantis has released the music video for their latest single "Runaway (U & I)." The duo — comprised of Linus Eklöw, known for his solo work as Style of Eye, and Christian Karlsson, one third of Swedish band Miike Snow, and as the Grammy Award-winning pop producer/songwriter Bloodshy. The video is the second part is the Seafox saga, the mascot of sorts for Galantis, following her on her quest to find herself as someone famous yet totally alone in this world. This video follows up the previous Seafox-themed clip for "You." -
The Weeknd Shares 'Earned It' Video for 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Starring Dakota Johnson [WATCH]
The Weeknd has unveiled the NSFW music video for his contribution to the "Fifty Shades of Grey" soundtrack: "Earned It." The video finds The Weeknd — real name Abel Tesfaye — in an auditorium with nearly naked women dancing around in front of him, including film star Dakota Johnson, who is tied up in some sort of contraption. Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, the clip is probably tame for what is to come in the film, but still hints at the class that the song possesses, as the OVO boss croons: "Cause girl you're perfect / You're always worth it / And you deserve it / The way you work it / Cause girl you earned it / Girl you earned it." -
Nicki Minaj to Headline ESPN's X Games in Austin in June: Talib Kweli Also Performing
Nicki Minaj just got signed to do one of her most interesting gigs in 2015. She will be headlining ESPN's X Games this June in Austin, Texas. Talib Kweli, Pennywise and Deltron 3030 will join "The Pinkprint" singer on the smaller South Factory stage, where the acts will perform. The "Anaconda" singer said in a statement to "The Wrap," "I look forward to channeling the energy and spirit from the X Games into a performance Austin will not forget." -
Shazam Gets $1 Billion Valuation After $30 Million from New Funding Round
Shazam has hit the magic $1 billion valuation mark. After a recent round of funding worth reportedly $30 million, the song-identification and discovery app has found itself joining the billionaire boys club — the real one. Fittingly, according to Shazam Chairman Andrew Fisher in an interview with "Bloomberg," "We had a couple of billionaires who participated in the funding round." Fisher also further discussed plans for a potential Shazam IPO saying, "Strengthening the balance sheet gives us more choices about when we would go to the public market." -
Jay Z Is Not Buying Hot 97: Funkmaster Flex Introduces Show On 'Hov 97'
The rumor mill ran off the tracks the past few days with speculation that Jay Z joined a group of investors that included Carmelo Anthony (what else is he going to do now that the Knicks are so bad) to buy major New York City hip-hop radio station Hot 97 from its parent, Emmis Communications after he was attacked on air by popular and influential host and DJ Funkmaster Flex. This rumor, which came from homophobic gossip blog MediaTakeOut.com who vehemently defended their "rock solid source," has proven to be very false. We reached out for comment and a spokesperson for Emmis Communications, Kate Snedeker denied the story, stating plainly, "it is false." -
Melt! Festival 2015 Lineup: Alt-J, Flume, London Grammar, Kylie Minogue Headlining
Another day, another dollar potentially spent as a festival dishing out their lineup for the summer. This time, Melt! Festival in Germany has unveiled the first batch of artists who will be headed to Ferropolis (the city of Iron) just an hour outside of Berlin. The first wave of artists will be headlined by a varied group that includes, Alt-J, Kylie Minogue, London Grammar, whose 2013 set remains one of the festivals most viewed sets on their YouTube channel and Flume. Further additions include Jon Hopkins, Bonobo (DJ Set), Clark, Dark Sky, Sophie, Modeselektor and others. -

Pioneer Ditching Laptops With New XDJ-RX Controller
DJ equipment giant Pioneer has been in the process of revolutionizing its controller equipment over the past several months. The end of 2014 saw the controversial announcement of their new brand of controller, the XDJ, which ditches the CD (hence why it is no longer called a CDJ) and relies solely on other sources like USB sticks. Pioneer has announced that it will be rolling out a new type of XDJ, the XDJ-RX all-in-one equipped with rekordbox that is not compatible with laptops. -
Feed Me Unveils EP Details, Nixes Skrillex Collab
Feed Me (real name Jon Gooch) has unveiled more information regarding his upcoming EP. The innovative UK electro/dubstep producer revealed on Christmas Eve that he would be releasing plenty of material in 2015, starting with a new Feed Me EP. The "Calamari Tuesday" producer took to Facebook to reveal the cover art for his the upcoming EP, which announces a new release date for the four-track EP — Feb. 2, instead of the previously acknowledged Feb. 1. Drawing conclusions from the cover art, which features a faceless Feed Me mascot dominating a city, the EP could be titled "A Giant Warrior Descends on Tokyo." In addition to divulging EP details, a fan asked about the long-awaited Skrillex and Feed Me collaboration that has been floating around the internet for some time — plus, the pair have played on occasion. Gooch joined the comments section to shoot down the idea that it will come out saying "Not that interested in releasing it. Sorry Guys." He quickly followed up with, "Not actually sorry." -

Renaissance man, Giorgio Moroder, has officially released his collaboration alongside Kylie Minogue, "Right Here, Right Now," from his upcoming studio album which is set for release this spring. Skrillex and Bonnaroo Share 7-Part SuperJam Documentary Featuring The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Zedd, Damian Marley, Thundercat and More [WATCH]
Bonnaroo took a big risk when it booked Skrillex to lead a "SuperJam," one of the unique aspects of the festival where an artist curates a massive collective of disparate artists from either the same genre or different ones to come together and play a variety of songs, generally covers. But, by all accounts, his was one of the most successful at the festival as he managed to blend electronic music with hip-hop, rock and reggae, calling upon artists from all across styles and decades. AT&T teamed up with Bonnaroo to put together a seven-part documentary about the making of the Skrillex SuperJam and the meeting of the minds that included Mickey Hart of The Grateful Dead; Robbie Krieger, guitarist for The Doors; A$AP Ferg; Thundercat; Big Gigantic; Warpaint; Zedd; Janelle Monáe; Damian Marley; and many others. -

January is the season for festival lineup announcements and Fresh Island Festival in Croatia — where else? — is here to share its. Normally when one thinks about beach parties and festivals, DJs spinning downtempo house music until the early morning comes to mind, like the just-completed BPM Festival in Mexico. But Fresh Island is flipping that idea on its head with a hip-hop-centered festival with a splash of EDM-tinged trap music in what it claims is "Europe's No. 1 hip-hop beach festival." Hakkasan Group has been expanding its Las Vegas empire over the past twelve months and one of those additions has been opening the new Omnia Nightclub in Caesar's Palace. The group converted the old Pure Nightclub into a brand new state of the art facility to compete with the other mega-clubs on the strip. However, in the current Vegas climate, it is not enough to have a massive club and expect people to just show. It has been almost two years since we last heard a song from Frenchman, Martin Solveig, but he is back in 2015 with a vengeance. Teaming up with Miami duo, GTA, Solveig has unleashed an unstoppably groovy tune, aptly titled "Intoxicated." In addition to releasing "Intoxicated," the trio has unveiled a new music video to go along with the track that has Solveig's flare for the extraordinary. With its bright colors, clashing scenery, which includes an old man licking an ice cream cone and polishing a car with rims that are too large and oddly dressed individuals showing off eccentric dance moves, Solveig breaks the mold of Spinnin' Records videos which have in the past been pretty sappy love stories or cut and paste clips of live footage. -

One of our 2015 artists to watch, UK synth pop trio, Years & Years have released the music video for their upcoming single "King." Unveiled ahead of its upcoming march 1st release date, "King" shows the maturation of a group growing into the spotlight that is shining brighter on them every day. As premiered by Buzzfeed, "King" has all of the synth-pop lushness one would expect from the "Desire" trio, coupled with superb songwriting all brought to life in a well-choreographed video done by Sia choreographer Ryan Heffington.
