    Things are not well in the New York hip-hop family. Two of the biggest players in the community, Jay-Z and Funkmaster Flex, are at odds over actions reportedly taken by people at Jay-Z's site "Life + Times." There appears to be more at stake here, though. According to a report on "mediatakeout.com," citing a "rock-solid source," Jay-Z is a part of a group of investors that includes New York Knicks basketball star Carmelo Anthony who are currently in negotiations to buy Hot 97. According to the site, both sides are serious about getting the deal done. Hot 97 is the radio station where Funkmaster Flex has his own radio show.
  • Moog to Restart Manufacturing Large Format Modular Synthesizers: The System 55, System 35 and Model 15 Back in Production

    Legendary synthesizer company Moog announced at the National Association of Music Merchants through a press release that the historic company will be reproducing some of its original and most sought-after, large-scale modular synth units. Specifically, the Ashveville, North Carolina-based company has decided to restart production on three of the most sought-after modular synthesizers: the System 55, the System 35 and the Model 15. They were some of the most innovative models that were built in the 1970s.

    Eminem has had a monster past two years, releasing a record setting studio album and growing his label Shadyville Records into one of the most well respected imprints in hip-hop. It appears that Marshall Mathers is potentially going to keep the momentum up and release another album in 2015. It would reportedly be titled Roots and is expected to feature the likes of Dr. Dre and Xzibit.

    Spotify streaming competitor Rdio has officially launched in India as per a statement. Rdio takes a big step with this move to increase its user base by adding the second most-populace country in the world of 1.25 billion people as potential listeners. Rdio boasts a library of more than 32 million songs in 43 languages from global, regional and local labels, and with the move into India will be working hard to recruit local content providers into vast networks.

The French producer, DJ's debut artist album has been long-anticipated by fans eager to hear new music from the "Finale" producer and he has at last put a definitive date on when it will be released. Adventure will hit stores March 30th via Columbia Records. Madeon has also announced the tracklist for the LP, featuring some interesting collaborations and brand new music that has not been heard before. He will be working alongside Dan Smith, the singer from Bastille, Passion Pit, Mark Foster, the singer from Foster The People and others, though the album will feature plenty of instrumentals.

    Above & Beyond are gearing up for the global release of their third artist album We Are All We Need and to promote the new LP, the UK based trance trio have released a video showing how the album was made. It catches up with them in the studio with the singers who appear on the LP including Zoë Johnston, Alex Vargas and Justine Suissa, as well as their label signee and close collaborator, Andrew Bayer who helps with the production to bring the ideas to life.

    Norwegian tropical house standard bearer Kygo — real name Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll — recently went on Norwegian-Swedish talk show "Skavlan" to sit down for an interview and play an acoustic rendition his new single "Firestone" featuring the vocals of Australian singer Conrad. Kygo goes full acoustic for the program, led by Norwegian journalist Fredrik Skavlan, fingering the melody on a grand piano as Conrad shines as the leading artist on this acoustic cover, while a percussionist makes his presence felt with soft taps and crashes on a set of cymbals with mallets. Kygo then sits down to have a chat with Skavlan in Norwegian about his career and recent success.

    On Jan. 16, treasured R&B/soul singer Aaliyah would have turned 36, and to honor her life, Frank Ocean covered the One In A Million singer's rendition of "At Your Best (You Are Love)," an Isley Brothers track from 1976 that was covered by Aaliyah in 1994. Frank Ocean took to his active Tumblr account to share the stripped-down and soulful cover. The Channel Orange singer dishes a moving falsetto, which he titles "You Are Luhh," that is a fitting tribute to the R&B singer who was taken from us too soon. It will kick off a short residency in the Big Apple during March as she unveils her exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art on the same day as her first show at Carnegie Hall, March 7.

    Houston rapper Travi$ Scott has revealed the tentative release for his debut solo artist album Rodeo. In an interview with CR Fashion Book, Scott revealed that the album would be arriving sometime in March. It was a very typical way for the "Don't Play" rapper to make the announcement that was raised by a mother who was a retailer for Louis Vuitton. He commented on the meaning of the album title, Rodeo in the same interview.

    Pornhub announced a contest to find the "ultimate" Pornhub theme song with a judging panel of T-Pain and hip-hop star, producer Scott Storch, judging the submissions. The self-proclaimed number one porn site received thousands of submissions and had to whittle that down to one winner for the grand prize. Since Pornhub likes to be rather unconventional, they decided to choose two winners, one aptly titled "Pornhub Anthem" by Reading, Pennsylvania rapper Jordan Royale and another "You Make Me Feel Like" from female rocker, Mihannah Zhang.

    DMX has always been an eccentric character. Whether it is his sometimes offbeat raps or his somewhat head-scratching and at times public appearances, the life of DMX is never dull. With that voice anything can be made fun. This time around, DMX, real name Earl Simmons, took a moment during a show with Wu-Tang Clan recently to assure the crowd that he in fact "Did not suck d-k." This was not a passing comment, he repeated the statement about a dozen times, which is incredibly puzzling because it is not likely that the crowd went into the show thinking about some non-existent rumors that DMX likes to perform oral sex on men. With such a fervent denial, there will probably be a lot more people who are inclined to think he does now
