  • Ryn Weaver Makes TV Debut with 'OctaHate' on 'Late Show with David Letterman' [WATCH]

One of our 2015 Artists to Watch, Ryn Weaver made her television debut last night on the "Late Show with David Letterman," performing her song "OctaHate" from the Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter's debut EP "Promises." The performance was solid for her first time on TV, which can be nerve-wracking and be too large a stage at first for some artists. Weaver appeared to be nervous at first, hesitant to really go for some high notes, but eventually warmed into the performance and hit some of the bolder notes. The "Promises" singer noted on Twitter that she was sick during the week, which can be deadly for a person's voice, but despite the adversity, still delivered an excellent debut performance on live television. The Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat and Passion Pit's Michael Angelakos co-produced track, co-written with Charli XCX, "OctaHate" is an easy-going pop tune, but for the live TV performance she had a band who flipped the script and added a rock vibe to the track.Come for the music and her outfit and stay to the end for a super awkward hand kiss from David Letterman. The man is about to retire and is going to do whatever he pleases.Ryn Weaver is living up to the general billing of an artist to watch in 2015. She has already been booked for two of the biggest festivals in the land — Coachella and Bonnaroo — notably impressive since she has only had a four-track EP in her discography. Weaver has stated on social media that she is working on an album at the moment, though no further details have been given. With the current machine helping to propel her to big festival stages and late night performances, expect star power producers and potential features on the album.

  • Apple Reportedly Has Stopped Free iTunes 'Single of the Week' Promotion

In appears that Apple has started out the year by quietly making a pretty big change to the iTunes music store. As has been reported by fans in other jurisdictions, like the U.K. and Italy, it seems as though Apple as phased out the free "Single of the Week" feature that was prevalent on the iTunes homepage over the past 10 years. The feature has been a blessing and a curse, allowing artists to promote their music in one of the most trafficked music services on the Web with a free download, but also loads up music libraries with random songs that may never pan out.The free download has been a feature since 2004, but Apple kicked off 2015 without the free downloads, and it appears to be gone for good. As pointed out by "Business Insider," an Apple forum post discusses the issue and several commenters chime in on the subject. One "Bob Foss" claims to have had a discussion with an Apple employee who confirmed that the feature was indeed gone."I contacted iTunes Support and they told me the decision was made to drop the free Single of the Week. Seems they don't want people browsing the Store anymore. I told them that the free single each week got me to the Store and I usually bought a few songs. Now, there's less reason to go. They've stopped the free single in other countries too," says Bob Foss. The end of the free single makes sense for Apple, as it looks to capitalize on its move in acquiring Beats Audio and Beats Music in May 2014. The move for Beats Music signals a shift toward streaming, ahead of downloads, and recognizes the new climate in the industry — remarkable for a service based on downloads. The square that was used for free downloads appears to have been filled with iTunes radio premieres, which are streams in their own right and serve audio ads.

The Big Imagination foundation is a nonprofit that is trying to make this happen with a fleet of volunteers and a lot of willpower. The 747 Project will bring the largest art installation to Burning Man that the event has ever seen. It is a real 747, not a replica or something manufactured. • 2 Chainz and Nancy Grace Debate Merits of Marijuana Legalization on HLN [WATCH]

Nancy Grace and her aggressive, controversy-causing show on HLN decided to have a discussion on the legalization of marijuana and invited onto the show for a back-and-forth on the issue to discuss the pros and cons with experts and ... 2 Chainz, who could be considered an expert in his own right. Nancy Grace dubs him one as she says, "I have seen a video of you smoking a big fat doobie."The whole segment is rather surreal as Grace and 2 Chainz — real name Tauheed Epps — argue over whether or not weed should be legalized in America. Grace continues to drive home her point that weed is dangerous and shows the same video of a parent who gives her 2-year-old weed to smoke, a terrible act for any parent to do. When she seems to be falling behind to Epps, the host falls back on the time-tested method by TV hosts outside hip-hop of bringing up choice lyrics to try and discredit him. Where is Cam'ron when you need him?But 2 Chainz counters by trying to drive home the economics of the situation, saying, "I just feel like if you legalize this particular drug, it could cut out certain things in the criminal justice system as far as the overcrowding of prisons ..."He goes so far as to give an example of a time when he had to go to court over shavings left in a grinder that was found in his bus, emphasizing the strain marijuana has on the legal system.

It's an attempt to create a hybrid of all of the music I love and all [the] music I have been inspired by throughout all of these years, and I have made them into songs. I am not trying to do pop. A lot of producers are trying to go towards the whole EDM/pop clash, and this is different. It's more indie, melancholic, darker, but still some big songs," he said. The pair try and peel back the many layers on the difficult topic on creativity in dance music today and why there seems to be something lacking from many new producers.Talking about his comments to "Mixmag," Angello said DJs should pay their dues in clubs and that club culture is still important to dance music.

  • CollegeHumor Delivers Very Honest and Humorous View of Music Festivals [WATCH]

Festival season is one of the greatest times of the year for a music fan. Artists are constantly touring and making stops at a city near you, with festivals bringing together massive pools of talent into one place to make it easy to try and see as many of your favorite acts at once. Being outdoors in the sun and nice weather makes things more pleasant with friends and a cold beer makes things more enjoyable. But it is not always so easy-breezy. Festivals can be overcrowded, hot or rainy and awful scheduling conflicts can make seeing the two acts you had to see impossible. "CollegeHumor" summed up that sentiment perfectly in a video describing the struggle festivalgoers can face when attending a festival and trying to get past security, dealing with hours of unnecessary traffic and paying for overpriced food and drinks. Watch it below via "YourEDM."The Southern Hemisphere festival season is in full swing, and the folks down under and in South America are knee deep in these issues on a weekend basis. But up north, we await the arrival of March and April for the kickoff of the season with festivals in North America like Buku, Coachella, Ultra Music Festival and Hangout Festival.
