    As by far and away the largest retail store in the world, with revenues worldwide of $482.2 billion in the 2014 fiscal year, Wal-Mart is doing well as a business. It has come under fire over the past decade stemming from its treatment and pay of employees. It has largely ignored those pleas, but signs are that the company is changing. Minimum wage will increase to $10/hour, potentially to get ahead of a federal increase in minimum wage to the same dollar amount, and it changing the music in the stores. The music currently comes from a CD, which plays on loop, consisting of a lot of Celine Dion and some Justin Bieber, a very high concentration of Canadian acts. This has been driving employees crazy and the company announced at its shareholders meeting Wednesday that the company would employ a DJ, who would curate the soundtrack to its U.S. stores. The program is called Wal-Mart radio, which would be played to all U.S.

    Normally heads of states do not bother themselves with drama in the music community, but when they lead a country of about 3 million and it involves one of your more prominent musical exports, they have to pay attention. Lithuanian president Dalia Grybauskaite spoke to journalists in Villnius and among other things, spoke about the recent homophobic comments Lithuanian DJ/producer Ten Walls made on his personal Facebook, saying it will be an opportunity for the country to begin a substantive conversation on intolerance in the country's society.

Chicago's Spring Awakening is preparing to open its doors in just over 24 hours and it has announced something special for those not in town or unable to score tickets.     We knew this moment was coming, but Disclosure have announced their long-awaited sophomore artist album Caracal that will follow up their break out debut full-length Settle. The pair of Guy & Howard Lawrence will also play two of the most prominent arenas in the United States after the albums release on Sept. 25 through PMR/Island Records. They will be taking over Los Angeles' Staples Center on Sept. 29 and Madison Square Garden on Oct. 24. They have also revealed the album artwork and a few songs from the tracklist.

    A refrain heard in rap battles is one man telling another that they will end the other's career. They go about doing this in various ways, by taking apart their demeanor, physical appearance or actual talent. But it is a lot easier when an artist does that for himself or herself. There isn't an exact equivalent in the electronic music world, but Lithuanian producer, DJ Ten Walls, born Marijus Adomaitis, just made a very strong attempt to end his own career after posting rather disgusting homophobic comments on his personal Facebook page. The resulting outcry has caused Ten Walls to be dropped from festival bills and cancel all upcoming shows.

Soundcloud today announced that it had stuck a deal with Merlin, one of the largest independent label and publishing consortiums in the world with over 20,000 members under its umbrella.

    Yesterday, A$AP Rocky fans had a field day after the A.L.L.A. rapper was quoted in an interview saying he was working on a mixtape with Rod Stewart hosted by Lenny Kravitz titled Born To Be Pretty. It was described as "definitely a panty-dropper" and was expected to be released sometime his summer. After the psychedelic nature of At.Long.Last.A$AP and the collaboration between Rocky and Stewart on "Everyday" with Mark Ronson, this almost seemed plausible. However, the "LSD" rapper took to Twitter today to clear some things up and say that it was all just a joke.

  • Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Suge Knight Named In Wrongful Death Lawsuit From Hit-And-Run

    The defendant's list for the Suge Knight trial has grown unexpectedly. Suge Knight is continuing to battle the hit-and-run case where he was seen killing Terry Carter, however the incident has spurred a new lawsuit involving two of Knights former associates. According to TMZ, Carter's wife and children have filed a wrongful death lawsuit claiming that his death was caused by gang members who sparked the fight leading up to Suge Knight's fleeing the scene. Knight is unsurprisingly named in the suit, while Dr. Dre and Ice Cube are also named.
